I didn’t know where to start after my dad’s passing, but the team were professional, compassionate and caring, making everything as simple as possible and taking some of the burden off my shoulders. From the very beginning, what we were expecting to be an overwhelming process was made to feel smooth, manageable, and thoughtfully handled. Everything was explained clearly and patiently, and we felt guided every step of the way. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and every question we had was met with kindness and understanding. A few years ago, when my Nan had concerns about her funeral arrangements, Mark kindly offered us a planning booklet at no cost. This turned out to be invaluable. It meant that so many decisions had already been thoughtfully considered, and we knew exactly what Nan wanted. It gave us great comfort knowing we were able to honour her wishes fully, and it lifted a huge weight from us during such an incredibly difficult time. Mark, Neil, and Tate have all been outstanding. They truly go above and beyond, listening carefully to everything you say and offering gentle, thoughtful advice when needed. Their compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail made all the difference. We are so grateful for everything they have done. Thank you so much.

From the moment we met Mark we knew we had made the correct choice in using Ivor Thomas Funerals to arrange the funeral for my mum. He was courteous, professional and very caring to our elderly dad. His attention to detail, professionalism and knowledge of the funeral business meant that we were in safe hands. Everything went very smoothly on the day and, in the preparation period, we had every confidence in Mark and his team. I was moved when he caringly referred to “receiving your mum into our care”. The fact that they are a family run independent business and that they only arrange one funeral a day, means that they are totally committed to their customers. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this firm.

I think for anyone who may be struggling during a time when they need support arranging a service, Mark and the rest of the staff really do everything they can to make the whole process as easy and as painless as possible. After losing my mother, my father and I found ourselves feeling quite lost. We had no recommendations and were looking for guidance on how everything worked. After a quick Google search, it quickly became clear, not just from my review but from many others, that this family run business truly takes care of everything. Nothing felt off limits when it came to questions, and they guided us through every step right up to the service. Even afterwards, if we had any additional questions or queries, they were more than happy to help. I know many people wonder about the cost of a service. From our own experience and from looking online, you are generally looking at around £4,000. Ivor were competitive and very supportive when we wanted to add or remove elements to help keep the cost close to our budget. Of course this is subjective, and depending on the options you choose, costs can be higher, but I thought it would be helpful for others to have a rough idea. If you are thinking about using their services, I would strongly recommend making a quick phone call to discuss your circumstances. There can be additional costs if you are outside their local area, and there may also be out of hours charges if anything is needed beyond standard times. Having that conversation early on really helps avoid any surprises and makes everything clearer from the start. This is a difficult review to write, as it is not a service you ever wish to need again. However, if my father or I were ever in a similar situation, I cannot recommend Mark and the wonderful service he provided highly enough.

From the moment I spoke to Mark, I could tell he was special. I was trying to contact a different funeral home, but weirdly my phone started ringing Ivor Thomas. Mark even asked me if he wanted me to give him the number of the funeral home I was trying to contact!!! It's a tough decision, planning your loved one's last journey, but Mark and his team were amazing, he had me at the first hello!! I could tell he was special!! Absolutely fabulous care and respect from all the team, my brother had the best care ever, completely faltless, and I will be forever grateful to Ivor Thomas for this. If you want your loved one to have care, dignity and working above and beyond to care not just for the deceased, but also for the whole family, then I would trust your loved one to them.
